Poul M. Volther[1]

Poul M. Volther was a Danish designer and educator known for his contributions to mid-century modern furniture. Trained as a cabinetmaker and furniture designer, he was an advocate of functionalism, focusing on craftsmanship and quality materials. He worked at FDB, the Danish Consumers Cooperative Society, which played a crucial role in democratizing good design. His pioneering work included the development of simple, elegant, and practical furniture for mass production. For HAY, his interpretation of the Windsor chair, the J110, has been reintroduced.
